About me

     Hello and welcome to my blog.  I am so happy to have you here on my website share with you all of my handmade creations but first I wanted to tell you a little bit about me.  This is my very first blog so please give me some grace.  I hope to get better with time so please enjoy!
   
    Hi, I am Maria and I am married to my best friend Michael for almost 20 years!  I am the oldest of 4 daughters to two amazingly talented parents.  Together, Michael and I, have 15 nieces and nephews who are our world!  I have been a hairstylist for 15 years,  but this year in February, I left my profession to focus on my door hanger business full time.  I started Little Maria’s Crafts in September 2020 and thanks to you all, it has been growing and I am beyond grateful.

     I am a self-taught artist, so that means a lot of trial and error and a lot of hours researching and experimenting.  I have been a crafter all my life and I come from a family of many great artists that I will hopefully one day tell you all about.

     Since I was a child, I DIYed doll clothes out of fabric scraps and doll furniture out of wood scraps or empty containers.  My favorite subject in school was ALWAYS art class.  I was the girl that as an elective in school chose art or shop class!  Crafting has always been my passion so I have done a little bit of pretty much everything.  Sewing, wood working, crochet, hand embroidery, felt and paper flowers, vinyl decals and t-shirts, jewelry making, bow making, clay pottery, leather work, wood burning,....and most recently painting.  (I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting!)

     I have been cutting and painting my own wood designs since 2017.   I discovered my love for painting while I was looking for a cute decoration for my front door. I decided to try painting my own door hanger and I fell in love with painting ever since.  I eventually opened up an Etsy shop and began to sell my door hangers!

So here I am today as the owner of Little Maria’s Crafts and I hope to share a piece of my my love for art with every item I sell here on my page. It has been such a fun journey and I have learned so much and I hope to continue to learn and improve each day! I take great pride in my work and I strive to make every item as well made as possible so I hope you love everything as much as I do!
